Teams Breathe a Sigh of Relief as Business Plans
are Handed In
JMEC teams hand in their business plans

Eleven JMEC teams breathed a sigh of relief on April 28th as they handed in their final business plans.  The teams have been working diligently since mid-January, with guidance from their mentors and consultants, to produce plans for their project clients. Some members indicated they were going to the pub for a celebratory drink, while others said all they wanted to do was sleep.

JMEC teams hand in their business plansAfter a much-deserved break for Golden Week, the participants will meet up again on May 9th to hone their presentation skills, in anticipation of facing the judges at the end of May.  Winners of the competition will be announced at the 15th Annual Awards Ceremony on June 5th.

JMEC Events Focus on Staying Marketable in this Economy

Navigating through the current economic climate and keeping oneself marketable are at the top of many people's minds lately, and two recent JMEC events addressed just those topics.  On March 3rd, JMEC lecturers and positive-thinkers Anthony Willoughby and Roger Brookin treated us to a Mini-CampFire talk.  During the Mini-CampFire, Anthony and Roger helped those in attendance get back to the basics of business JMEC networking eventso that their companies would not just survive, but thrive, in 2009 and beyond.  On April 23rd, serial networkers Andrew Shuttleworth and Gary Bremermann shared their thoughts on online and offline networking, respectively.  Said Andrew, "spend time to manage your network and get familiar with some of the best tools for managing your network online.  It's one of the best investments you'll ever make." In his 7.5 Tips for Effective Networking, Gary emphasized the importance of starting from a mindset of "give" rather than a mindset of "get." To learn more, visit the JMEC Alumni page
