Doing Business in Japan the JMEC Way
The Japan Market Expansion Competition (JMEC) is a business training program in Japan centered on a business plan competition. The dual objectives of the program are to strengthen the skills of up-and-coming executives, while at the same time benefiting foreign and domestic companies doing business in Japan.
The program runs from November through May. The on-line application is due October 15th. It is highly recommended applicants attend one of the information sessions to learn what is required and meet past participants. Information sessions are held Sept.11th, 25th and Oct. 2nd. Registration is free. Please sign up for the upcoming session here or under Participants, Information Sessions.
Individuals who participate in the business training program receive classroom training, and hands-on experience writing a business plan for the Japanese market. Organizations that take part in the program as project clients receive a professional business plan for their activities in the Japanese market at a fraction of the cost of hiring outside consultants.
JMEC was started in 1993 by a group of individuals who desired more training about doing business in Japan. Having found none available, they began their own business training program with the support of several of the foreign chambers of commerce. Since the inception of JMEC, the program has come to be supported by seventeen foreign chambers of commerce in Japan.
Whether you are an organization in need of a business plan for the Japanese market, or an individual looking for business training in Japan, JMEC is for you.
